Premise: Variety show hosted by a young American comedian and a Japanese pop duo

Why Pink Lady and Jeff might be annoying:

The series was cancelled after one month.
The show was a monumental failure and appears on lists as one of the worst network variety TV series.
Pink Lady was hyped as girls with poor English skills, but in fact their grasp of English was non-existent.
Keiko 'Kei' Masuda shares names with Keiko the whale.
The series introduced us to the irritating comedian Jim Varney (Ernest).
The show was formulated for Pink Lady to open covering a popular tune.
Pink Lady would then consult Jeff Altman to explain American culture to them.

Why Pink Lady and Jeff might not be annoying:

The show ended each episode with the girls clad in bikinis.
Pink Lady was a successful pop duo in Japan and hit the US charts with 'Kiss in the Dark.'
NBC bribed Larry Hagman to appear on the show with a TV-movie deal.
NBC promoted the show as 'What happens when Japan's hottest singers meet America's hottest comic.'
Because it was on NBC they attracted stellar guests including Blondie, Red Buttons, Sid Caesar, Cheap Trick, Alice Cooper, Lorne Greene, Sherman Hemsley, Florence Henderson, Larry Hagman, Hugh Hefner, Jerry Lewis, Donny Osmond, Bert Parks and Teddy Pendergrass.
The series was so awful it naturally developed a cult following.
