Why they might be annoying:

The band went from being a great blues-rock band to a generic 80's hair metal group.
Many longtime fans don't like their newer material.
Fans of the newer material don't really know about their older songs.
In order to make it big in America, Coverdale fired his longtime band in favor of younger looking musicians.
Some of the band's biggest hits were actually re-recorded versions of songs they previously recorded.
Some of their music was derogatory toward women.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were a spin-off of Deep Purple.
They headlined The Monsters of Rock Festival in 1983 and 1990.
They were extremely successful in Europe, Japan and America.
