    It originally started as an unincorporated community in Acquackanonk Township, before becoming recognized as a separate entity.
    Its economy relies heavily on the industrial sector.
    It has hot humid summers and mild cool winters.
    It has poor air quality as a result of the factories in the region.
    It, along with neighboring Clinton is mistaken to be a twin city.
    It was the site of a massive chemical plant fire that nearly caused a mass evacuation (January 14, 2022).

Why Passaic, New Jersey might not be annoying:

    It was initially founded by Dutch Settlers in the 17th century.
    It was a hub for both the textile and metal industries during the 19th century.
    It was the site of the first television station which transmitted into private homes, along with the country's first commercial television network.
    It is home to the largest Orthodox Jewish population in the state of New Jersey.
    It elected the first Dominican-American mayor in the history of the United States, when Alex Blanco took power (2008).
    Actor Paul Rudd was born in the city.
    It prides itself on its status of being a blue-collar city.
