Vocalist

The Resume

    (May 16, 1968- )
    Born in Roxbury, Massachusetts
    Member of New Edition (1980–1989)
Solo CDs include ‘Ralph Tresvant (1990),’ ‘It’s Goin’ Down (1994)’ and ‘Rizz-wa-faire (2006)’
Solo singles include ‘Sensitivity,’ ‘Stone Cold Gentleman,’ ‘Do What I Gotta Do’ and ‘Money Can’t Buy You Love’
Appeared in ‘House Party 2 (1991)’ (performed ‘Yo Baby Yo’)

Why he might be annoying:

    Treh-VAHN, or TREH-vahn.
He was named after his father.
As the lead voice for many of their singles, he was a little more apprehensive than his New Edition bandmates about a solo career.
Probably not surprisingly, his greater involvement in ‘It’s Goin’ Down’ didn’t help him duplicate his freshman success.

Why he might not be annoying:

Dick Clark compared him to Marvin Gaye.
Of the three singles that made the Billboard Hot 100, two cracked the Top 40 (‘Sensitivity’ got to #4).
But he did manage to get seven singles in the Hot R&B charts, with five of them reaching the Top 40 and four placing at least third.
He reunited with Bobby Brown and Johnny Gill to become Heads of State (2008).
