Why he might be annoying:

His second wife was 22 years younger than him, and was also the niece of his brother's wife.
He was against having any federal position elected by the public. ('[The people] should have as little to do as may be about the Government. They want information and are constantly liable to be misled.')
He was opposed to adopting the Bill of Rights to the Constitution.
He was a poor speaker, with John Adams saying, 'Sherman's air is the reverse of grace.... It is stiffness and awkwardness itself, rigid as starched linen.'

Why he might not be annoying:

As a member of the Continental Congress, he was involved in purchasing supplies for the army, handling Native American affairs, administering the post office and overseeing embassies, and typically put in 15 hours of work each day.
At the Constitutional Convention, he authored the Connecticut Compromise between large and small states, creating a bicameral legislature with a Senate where each state had the same number of representatives and a House with representation proportional to a state's population.
Thomas Jefferson called him 'a man who never said a foolish thing in his life.'
Fellow Congressman Fisher Ames said that if he missed the debate over a bill, he 'always felt safe voting as Mr. Sherman did, for he always voted right.'
