Promoter

The Resume

    (September 9, 1949- )
Born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, United Kingdom
    UK Motown label manager
    Managed Queen and Elton John

Why he might be annoying:

He was convicted and sentenced to a month in prison for assault in New Zealand (1974).
He represented Elton John while also being in a relationship with him for five years.
Their professional partnership ended after a letter from Elton's accountants, which detailed Reid's spending, was leaked to the press (1998).
The accusations led to legal action in 2000, with Reid settling out of court with 3.4 million pound settlement paid to Elton.
Elton had a falling out with his mother because she refused to cut ties with Reid in 2008.

Why he might not be annoying:

He started his career in 1967 at the age of 18, as a promoter for EMI.
He set up his own company with a few hundred pounds in savings and a 5,000 pound loan in 1971.
He won a $1 million wrongful termination lawsuit against Michael Flatley (1994).
He was a judge on the Australian version of The X Factor.
He was portrayed by two different actors in back-to-back biopics: Aidan Gillen in 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and then by Richard Madden in 'Rocketman.'
Both films depict him unflatteringly but parts of both have been debunked (Freddie Mercury did not, for instance, fire him for suggesting he go solo like in the film - rather their parting was a mutually friendly one).
