Crime Fighter

The Resume

    Born in Chicago, Illinois
Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department (March 28, 2016– December 2, 2019)
    Appointed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel

Why he might be annoying:

His birth date has been reported as both 1960 and 1961.
His appointment to Superintendent was controversial as he was not one of the three finalists selected by the Chicago Police Board (he didn't even apply).
He refused to collaborate with the U.S. Federal government's efforts to crack down on illegal immigrants, angering President Donald Trump.
The feud carried into 2019 when he refused to attend a speech by Trump at the International Association of Chiefs of Police that took place in Chicago. Trump called Johnson's absence 'a disgrace.'
Mayor Lori Lightfoot terminated his superintendent contract after an investigation indicated that he had misrepresented the reason why he had fallen asleep intoxicated in his police car. His hand was forced into retiring early.
He was named in a lawsuit by a Chicago police officer accusing him of sexual harassment and assault (October 2020).

Why he might not be annoying:

He's a dead ringer for Carl Winslow on Family Matters (they're even both Chicago cops!)
He grew up in the notorious Cabrini–Green housing projects, before moving to Washington Heights at age 10.
He has had congenital kidney disease for most of his adult life.
His son gave him one of his kidneys in 2017 (both support Illinois' organ donation program).
He was appointed by Mayor Emanuel to restore public trust within the black community.
During his tenure, Chicago's homicide rate (which was at an all time high when he took office) dropped by over 200 within a two year period.
He gained national attention for his handling of the police investigation into the Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax.
His press conference given shortly after determining the crime was a hoax, went viral, as did his speech: 'I’m left hanging my head and asking why. Why would anyone, especially an African American man, use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations? How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile? How can an individual who’s been embraced by the city of Chicago turn around and slap everyone in this city in the face by making these false claims?'
