Considered the father of the Modernismo movement in Spanish-language literature

Why he might be annoying:

He was arrested as a vagrant and sentenced to eight days of community service (1884).
He fathered four children in Europe while his wife was in Nicaragua.
Several articles published in newspapers under his byline had actually been written by his friend Alejandro Sawa.
He was an alcoholic.

He published his first poems at age fourteen.
He was called, 'The first major poet in the [Spanish] language since the 17th Century.'
The city he was born in was renamed Ciudad Dario in his honor (1920).
The National Assembly named him a National Hero of Nicaragua, an honor usually reserved for people who fought in battles (2016).
