Why she might be annoying:

    To play a Hispanic soldier in ‘Aliens,’ she used make up to darken her skin, dyed her hair black, and wore dark brown contact lenses.
    She said about her family’s reaction to her performance in ‘Aliens,’ ‘I think they were just glad that I had a paying job before I was thirty.’
    She tends to do a lot of dying on screen. (TV Tropes even titled one of its tropes after her ‘Aliens’ character, ‘Vasquez Always Dies.’)
    She was considered for the role of Tasha Yar on Star Trek: The Next Generation but was passed over in favor of Denise Crosby.

Why she might not be annoying:

    The producers of ‘Aliens’ were surprised that she was a professional actress and not a bodybuilder.
    She won a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress for ‘Aliens.’
