Why he might be annoying:

He left a hit series and went on to a flop movie career.
He was busted for propositioning a vice officer in a restaurant men's room (December 15, 1967) and was fined $50 for disturbing the peace.
Seven years later, he was caught having sex with a hairdresser in a gas station rest room (November 21, 1974).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a US Marine.
He said that he left 'Route 66' not because of a salary dispute as reported at the time but because he developed hepatitis and the producers refused to cut back the 12-15 hour filming days. ('My doctor said, 'If you don't get out, you're either going to be dead or you're going to have permanent liver damage.')
He was Playgirl's second nude centerfold (following Lyle Waggoner).
