Why he might be annoying:

He is still trying to pull off a 'Goth' persona as a middle-aged man.
He has hired and fired other members of his band at a pace which some might describe as unreasonable.
He smoked Gitane cigarettes.
The albums of The Cure alternate between being either dark and depressing or ridiculously upbeat and happy.
He has, at times, been referred to by the British press as 'Fat Bob.'
He at times wore dresses to school in his youth.
They allowed their song 'Pictures of You' to be used in a Hewlett Packard commercial.
He did drugs and was an alcoholic.
He relapsed into depression (1989).

Why he might not be annoying:

He appeared in the South Park episode 'Mecha-Streisand' as a giant, Godzilla-style monster that turned into a butterfly. Along with another Godzilla-style monster played by film critic Leonard Maltin, they defeated the huge-nosed Streisand monster.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Mary.
The album 'Disintegration' is arguably one of the best 'alternative' albums ever produced.
He used to torment former band member Laurence 'Lol' Tolhurst.
Disneyland is one of his favorite places.
He enjoys drinking lager and eating Indian curry.
He quit smoking in his mid-twenties.
He has been sober since 1985.
