Hockey Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He shares his name with a basketball player.
He was passed over in the NHL Entry Draft as a result of his small stature.
He suffered a serious wrist injury, which hampered his production considerably during the 2015 Stanley Cup Finals.
His salary was rumored to be the reason the Lightning left him unprotected in the Seattle Kraken expansion draft as a way to get salary cap relief.
When the Kraken didn't take him, the Lightning traded him to Chicago for Brent Seabrook's contract in order to get it.
He played in 26 games for the Blackhawks in his first season with the team, missing the majority of the season due to injuries.

Why he might not be annoying:

His parents often worked two jobs and sacrificed family vacation time in order for him to further his hockey career.
He was a member of his hometown Spokane Chiefs team that won the Memorial Cup (2008).
He turned down more lucrative offers from other teams to sign with the Lightning, as he felt they gave him the best opportunity to reach the NHL.
He defied the odds and was able to earn a spot on the Lightning roster in his second season with the team.
He finished second to Nathan MacKinnon in Calder Trophy voting (2014).
He is the first native of Spokane, Washington to get his name engraved on the Stanley Cup, which he did twice (2020, 2021).
