Drafted first overall by the Detroit Tigers in the 1997 Major League Baseball Draft
Pitcher for the Detroit Tigers (1998-2003) and the Colorado Rockies (2005)

Why he might be annoying:

He spent the majority of his career on horrendous Tigers teams.
He was rushed to the major leagues way too prematurely, which affected his development.
He tore a muscle in his armpit during a throwing session.
It was later speculated that he injured it throwing an octopus in an attempt to win playoff tickets to a Detroit Red Wings game.
He lost a significant amount of velocity in his pitches as a result.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a star pitcher at Rice University.
He left Rice as the school's all-time leader in career wins and saves.
He was the first player to be drafted first overall by the Tigers.
Prior to his injury, he was able to throw a fastball over 100 mph.
He recorded 22 saves for the Tigers during the 2001 season.
