Why he might be annoying:

He was married and divorced three times.
He bought 18 Ferraris in one day.
When a performer he works with saw a piece of paper with a childish scrawl and assumed it was a fan letter from a five-year old, he admitted it was the lyrics he was writing for their next song.
He gave his daughter Toni the middle name 'Tuesday,' because it was the only night of the week that his busy schedule left time for he and his wife to make love.
He co-wrote the United Kingdom's Eurovision entry 'That Sounds Good to Me,' which finished in last place (2010).
Throughout season 2 of 'Pop Idol,' he was critical of eventual winner Michelle McManus and did not hide his disappointment over her victory.
He was nicknamed 'Pete Slaughterman' for his brutally honest opinions on 'Pop Idol.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He produced 22 singles that hit #1 in the UK.
Outside of music, he is a railroad enthusiast who has collected several historic locomotives and founded a model railroad business.
He was so disillusioned by his experience on 'Pop Idol' that he has refused offers to judge The X Factor, American Idol and 'Britain's Got Talent.'
He did participate in the talent show parody 'Britain's Got the Pop Factor.... And Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice,' including a memorable scene in which he interrupts a funeral to tell a former contestant that his grandmother's death could be just the sob story needed to get him back on the show.
