    Born in Phenix City, Alabama
    Drafted eighth overall by the Chicago Bears in the 1973 NFL Draft
    Defensive Lineman for the Chicago Bears (1973-77) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1978-79)
    NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year (1973)

Why he might be annoying:

    His career ended prematurely due to injuries.
    The Buccaneers traded away a first round pick to get him, despite the fact his play had dropped considerably.
    The deal looked worse, after the Bears drafted future franchise great Dan Hampton with the pick.
    He was described as being quiet and private by family and friends.

Why he might not be annoying:

    Despite not being sought after by colleges, he drove out to Eastern Kentucky University in order to personally sell himself to get on the football team.
    He was considered a warrior on the field by football pundits.
    He earned the Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, making him the first Bears player to earn the honor in the post-merger era.
    He was plagued with serious health problems in the final decade of his life, as a result of playing football.
    He was posthumously honored as being one of the 100 Greatest Bears of All-Time (2019).
