Why Athens, Greece might be annoying:

    It has severe problems of overcrowding, traffic congestion and air pollution.
    Its area is similar to Los Angeles', as its smog is trapped in by the mountains around it.
    Twenty-four students were killed at the Athens Polytechnic School during protests against the Greek military regime (1973).
    Probably because of its dirtiness and lack of infrastructure, it lost the centennial Olympics to Atlanta (1996).
    Atlanta rubbed it in Athens' face when it held Olympic soccer in Athens, Georgia.
    It was criticized widely for its procrastination during planning and construction for the 2004 Olympics.
    They boycotted Coca-Cola as a protest for losing the centennial olympics.
    The Athenian fleet panic when they witnessed the eclipse of the Moon (April 27, 413)
    Arab terrorists entered Athens airport and fired on an El Al plane, killing one civilian (December 26, 1968).
    Arab terrorist group Black September killed three and wounds fifty-five in Athens (August 1973)
    Four US passengers were killed by a bomb at TWA counter at Athens Airport (April 2, 1986)

Why Athens, Greece might not be annoying:

    Before the Roman Empire captured the city, it was the cultural and intellectual center of ancient western civilization.
    Thanks to the famed monuments of the Acropolis, it is a prime tourist destination.
    It spent a great deal of time and money to try to improve its infrastructure.
    It hosted the first modern Olympics (1896); the stadium that held those games is the only major stadium to be made entirely of white marble.
    Actress Melina Mercouri, puppeteer Sid Kroft, 1996 Miss World Irene Skliva and 1964 Miss Universe Corinna Tsopel were born in Athens.
