The Resume

    (February 6, 1979- )
    Born in Cleveland, Ohio
Television personality, political commentator, and journalist for MSNBC
Host of ‘The Cross Connection’ (2020-22)
Author of 'Say It Louder!: Black Voters, Our Voices, and the Shaping of American Democracy'

Why she might be annoying:

She regularly resorts to personal insults and ad hominem attacks.
She said the Dolphins’ mishandling of Tua Tagovailoa's concussions showed that ‘white NFL coaches’ don’t value ‘black bodies’ (Tua is Samoan and coach McDaniel is biracial).
She is known for divisive rhetoric towards conservatives (e.g. urging liberals to ‘pick up a weapon’ in the civil war for democracy, called Clarence Thomas ‘Justice Pubic Hair on My Coke Can’).
MSNBC cut ties with her one day after she called Florida the ‘dick of the country’ on a Comedy Central show (November 4, 2022).
She allegedly threatened to blow the whistle on MSNBC leadership and claim that her firing was due to racism (even though network president, Rashida Jones, is a black woman).

Why she might not be annoying:

As a kid, she loved Murphy Brown and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
She was previously a fill-in host for Joy Reid's weekend show.
Her firing may have been in part to a campaign initiated after Tucker Carlson highlighted some of her statements and amplified their importance (see: Rwandan genocide comparison).
The Cross Connection routinely beat CNN in its Saturday morning time slot.
Before her exit, her name was floated to replace outgoing Brian Williams in his time slot.
