Born in New York City, New York
    Hollywood still photographer
Known for photographing Marilyn Monroe and Marlon Brando
Worked on the films ‘Streetcar Named Desire,’ ‘Viva Zapata!’ and ‘The Seven Year Itch’
Took the famous photos of Marilyn Monroe's skirt blown up over a street grate (1955)

Why he might be annoying:

The claim that the famous Marilyn Monroe dress shoot in New York was his idea is probably untrue (most likely it was Billy Wilder’s idea).
He allegedly gave Arthur Miller the idea to make ‘The Misfits’ (which ended up being a disastrous experience for all major parties involved).
He filed a $100 million dollar suit against his son, whom he accused of having pocketed thousands of dollars from secret deals to use his photographic images of Marilyn on merchandise (1994).

Why he might not be annoying:

He started out photographing families of the Dust Bowl during the Great Depression.
His photographs of Marlon Brando in a ripped T-shirt made the actor a cultural icon.
He was an early backer of John Cassavetes’ career.
He became friends with Marilyn before she attained stardom and his photos captured her in some of her happier and more carefree moments.
Marilyn herself said ‘He always makes me look my best.’
He had a run of distinguished cover shots for both Life and Look Magazine.
His 'Seven Year Itch' subway photo of Marilyn is regularly listed as one of the most important photos of the 20th-century.
