The Resume

    (April 5, 1943- )
    Resident of Boyds, Maryland
    Attorney and real estate broker
Represented Montgomery County in the Maryland House of Delegates (1979-83)
    Washington Bullets fan
Known for heckling opponents from a seat behind the visitors' bench

Why he might be annoying:

Due to misconduct allegations, his law license was suspended for a year and a half (June, 2007-December, 2008).
He was an extremely loud heckler.
He was particularly hated by players for attacking their personal lives. ('I do my homework, so I know who's vulnerable.... And then I go right for the jugular.')
A favorite tactic was reading the less flattering passages from 'The Jordan Rules' when the Bulls came to DC.
Larry Bird said, 'If there was an open season on fans, he'd be the first one I'd bag.'
When the Bullets moved to the MCI Center and in the process gave Ficker a seat away from courtside, he stopped attending games (1998).
When he resurfaced as a fan of the University of Maryland Terrapins' wrestling team (2010), the wrestlers' reactions included, 'I kind of just thought he was some crazy guy' and 'We thought he had a stroke or something. He was saying crazy things.'

Why he might not be annoying:

In one of his first legal cases, he went before the Supreme Court to end the NFL's blackout of sold out home games.
NBA Director of Operations Rod Thorn said, 'He doesn't curse and he doesn't leave his seat area. If he were abusive or if people were upset, maybe we could get him out of there, but there's nothing we can do.'
He was the target of a ball thrown by Michael Jordan, a shoe from Isaiah Thomas, a towel from James Worthy, and a Gatorade dousing by the Golden State Warriors.
He was unfazed by the Gatorade, taunting Warriors forward Chris Mullin that 'I was the only thing he'd hit all night.'
Charles Barkley thought he was so effective that he flew him out to Phoenix to taunt the Bulls during the 1993 NBA Finals.
His taunting of Michael Jordan's hair loss may have been one of the factors prompting Jordan to shave it bald.
The Terrapin wrestlers grew to appreciate his contributions, commenting 'It adds a little bit of excitement to the match, a little bit of laughs.'
