Why Baltimore, Maryland might be annoying:

    It often gets lost in the shuffle between New York and Washington, DC.
    Its residents have an inferiority complex toward Washingtonians.
    Natives pronounce it, 'Balmer.'
    Before the Inner Harbor revitalization, the area was laden with prostitutes and junkies.
    On February 7, 1904, The Great Baltimore Fire destroyed over 1,500 buildings in 30 hours.
    During the Civil War, Many people in Baltimore at the time were sympathetic to the Confederacy.
    Pro-Southern sentiment led to the Baltimore Riot of 1861.
    It had a high rate of illiteracy as late as the 1980's.
    Factories in Baltimore polluted the Chesapeake Bay for years.
    They stole baseball's Browns from St. Louis, to become the Baltimore Orioles.
    They took the football Browns from Cleveland and the baseball Browns from St. Louis.

Why Baltimore, Maryland might not be annoying:

    The New York Yankees played their first two seasons as the Baltimore Orioles (1901-02).
    Two words: The Preakness.
    Their crab cakes are world famous.
    It is the birthplace of Babe Ruth.
    The Inner Harbor is now a major tourist attraction.
    Oriole Park at Camden Yards is the first retro-ball park, and still considered the gold standard of the new era parks.
    Francis Scott Key wrote `The Star-Spangled Banner' there after witnessing the British attack on Baltimore during the War of 1812.
    Their beloved NFL Colts left town.
    It is home to the Baltimore World Trade Center, the world's tallest equilateral five-sided building.
    It is home to 12 colleges and universities.
    Johns Hopkins University, one of the leading medical colleges in the world, is located in Baltimore.
    It is the furthest city south on the East Coast that still has strong ethnic neighborhoods and influence.
