The Resume

    (July 24, 1941- )
    Born in Helsinki, Finland
Birth name was Pekka Juhani Nygard
    Fashion designer and clothing manufacturer
    Founded Nygard International (1967)
Arrested on sex trafficking and racketeering charges (December 15, 2020)

Why he might be annoying:

A judge in one of the many lawsuits he has been involved in described him as ‘evasive,’ ‘insincere,’ and ‘utterly lacking in credibility.’
He tried to avoid paying child support for one of his children by claiming it would destroy the kid’s work ethic.
His feud with his neighbor in the Bahamas, hedge fund manager Louis Bacon, escalated to absurd heights, with Nygard allegedly using fake news sites to portray Bacon as a drug smuggler and a member of the KKK.
His mansion in the Bahamas was ordered seized by the Supreme Court as part of a legal battle over his attempts to dredge the seabed around the estate (2018).
He was charged with raping an 18-year-old girl (1980). The charges were dropped when the girl refused to testify. He was later accused of using company funds to pay her off.
He settled sexual harassment claims from three former employees in Manitoba during the 1990s.
Jessica Alba, who attended a party at his mansion while filming ‘Into the Blue,’ called it ‘gross,’ adding ‘These girls are like 14 years old, in the jacuzzi taking off their clothes.’
Ten women filed a class action suit, claiming he had raped them at his Bahamas estate. Eight of the women claimed to have been underage at the time of the assault (February 13, 2020).
He stepped down as chair of Nygard International after the company headquarters were raided by the FBI and New York Police Department as part of their investigation into the sex trafficking allegations (February 25, 2020).
An additional 36 women claimed to have been sexually assaulted by him and joined the class action suit (April 22, 2020).
Two of his sons claimed that he had his then-girlfriend, ‘a full-time sex worker,’ have sex with them when they were both teenagers.

Why he might not be annoying:

His mansion at Lyford Cay was featured in ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.’
He supported the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
He was a sponsor of the Bahamas’ Amateur Boxing Association and its Olympic boxing teams.
Two of the women from the initial class action suit later recanted, saying they had been offered money and coached on their allegations.
