    AL Silver Slugger Award winner (1988)
    Raced stock cars for NASCAR (2000-10)
    Inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame (2008)

Why he might be annoying:

    He faced enormous pressure playing left field in Boston, due to the fact three of his predecessors earned MVP awards and were triple crown winners.
    He failed to live up to the Red Sox fans lofty expectations as a result.
    He captured an alligator and taped its mouth shut, placing it in his teammate Ellis Burks's locker as a prank.
    He spent the entirety of his major league career on a mediocre Red Sox team.
    His career ended after he took a baseball to the foot, and didn't want to take the substantial amount of time to heal from the injury.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He spent his entire major league career with the Red Sox.
    Although he didn't meet the fanbase's lofty expectations, he was viewed as a solid contributor to the team.
    He set a Red Sox franchise record for most runs driven in by a single player (9 in 1996).
    He finished second to Jose Canseco in voting for the 1988 AL MVP award.
    He briefly took up a career in stock car racing following his retirement from baseball.
