The Resume

    (June 8, 1924-March 27, 2006)
    Born in Bakersfield, California
Birth name was Franklyn Curran Nofziger
Press secretary to Governor Ronald Reagan
White House advisor during the Nixon and Reagan presidencies

Why he might be annoying:

He was a Lou Grant wannabe.
His main White House function was rooting Democrats out of the federal government and replacing them with Republican loyalists.
Probably the most famous example of this was his helping President Nixon compile his infamous 'Enemies List.'
He was known for flouting White House protocol, for instance refusing to wear his lapel pin identifying him to Secret Service.
He smoked cigars and wore a trademark tie with a picture of Mickey Mouse on it.
After leaving the White House, he was convicted of illegally lobbying for two defense contractors and a labor union (which the judge threw out the next year).

Why he might not be annoying:

He worked for sixteen years as a newspaper reporter.
He served three years in the Army during World War II.
He was replaced by Ed Rollins (ouch).
He broke the news to global media that Reagan had been shot in the 1981 assassination attempt by John W. Hinckley, Jr.
He said: 'I’m not a social friend of the Reagans, that's their choice and mine. They don't drink enough.'
His gruffness rubbed Nancy Reagan the wrong way, but he reportedly grew on her.
