Why he might be annoying:

    On the death of his mother, when he was 12, he left home and rode the railroad.
    Despite both actors appearing in two different series, he never shared a scene with John Amos in either.
    He was slated to play the role of a judge in ‘The Stand’ (a 1994 miniseries; the role eventually went to Ossie Davis).

    He did a three-year stint in the U.S. Army.
    He did not officially become an actor until his early 30s.
    In two separate appearances on The Cosby Show, he played two different characters.
    His one marriage, for the final 27 years of his life, bore him one son (though his wife already had a daughter at the time).
