    It has a murky history, prior to its inception as a town in the early 20th century.
    Its residents were not supportive of the Canadian confederation movement in the mid-1800’s.
    Its landmark Temperance Hall was burnt to the ground (1886).
    An inferno burnt the city’s downtown to the ground (April 28, 1914).
    Over a century later, another fire in the downtown burnt four of the city’s historic structures to the ground (November 27, 2015).
    It has warm humid summers and cold snowy winters.
    Its economy primarily relies on the industrial sector.

    It is the fourth largest city in New Brunswick.
    It is home to the province's largest Acadian population.
    It was considered a significant industrial city in the early part of the 20th century.
    It has some picturesque scenery, due to its location along the Nepisiguit River.

    Its resilience showed as the community was able to rebuild following both devastating fires that nearly wiped out the community.
