The Resume

Why they might be annoying:

People tend to mistakenly profile them as a married couple, when they’re not.
Marcy looks like Martha Stewart while Tom resembles Mr. Roper from Three's Company.
Tom Werner was co-owner of the San Diego Padres in the 90’s - and, as such, came up with the disastrous idea for Roseanne to sing the National Anthem before a game. (Bedlam ensued after she butchered the song and then spat in the dugout.)
It is very likely that Marcy Carsey was spoofed by Amanda Bearse’s ball-busting wife character on the anti-family sitcom Married with Children.
The spoof got even more apparent when Bearse’s character married Ted McGinley/Jefferson D’Arcy and became Marcy D’Arcy (direct rhyme!).
They severed their ties in 2005, with Marcy selling her interest in the production division, and Tom rebranding it as Werner Entertainment in 2007.
Tom got in on the sitcom reboot craze by reviving Roseanne with its original cast in 2018.
It turned into a fiasco after the titular star got fired over a racist tweet and temporarily got the entire show canceled. (He was able to revive the show as The Conners, which fans remain divided over.)
This has also extended to rebooting That 70s Show as ‘That 90s Show’ - which has been universally panned.

Why they might not be annoying:

Marcy started out as a tour guide at NBC and worked her way up to writing for The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
The two met while working on the team that developed the sitcoms Mork and Mindy and Soap.
Their joint projects, The Cosby Show and Roseanne, both redefined the American family sitcom, when it came to issues like race and class.
They partnered with Oprah to start the millennial Oxygen Network in 2000.
The first show their production company produced in over a decade - the Roseanne revival - debuted to a massive 17.7 million viewership - an impressive feat for 2018.
Marcy Carsey was recognized by Women in Film with the Crystal Award (in 1990) and the Lucy Award (in 2000).
Tom is a shareholder and chairman for both the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool Football Club.
Werner oversaw the creation of the Red Sox Foundation (2002), which has donated to more than 1,780 organizations since its inception.
They took infinitely more risks than their more milquetoast counterparts at Miller-Boyett (and their catalog of shows have aged better, by far).
