Comedian

The Resume

    (May 28, 1937-November 26, 2022)
    Born in Newark, New Jersey
    Birth name was Fred Kirschenbaum
    Borscht belt comedian
Headlined at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas and Harrah's in Atlantic City
Dean of the Friar's Club (1994-2014)

Why he might be annoying:

He briefly owned a ladies' shoe store before deciding his future lay 'not in shoe business, but in show business.'
He first performed at a Catskills Club owned by his grandfather and uncle.
He got his last name changed by an MC who found the original one too hard to pronounce.
The Friar's Club revoked their two-term limit so he could remain Dean, prompting his quip, 'I'm like the Fidel Castro of comedians. I'm president for life.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was married to his college sweetheart Ethel for 63 years.
He co-wrote and starred in the stage show 'Catskills on Broadway.' (1991)
He was an influence on Jerry Seinfeld and Paul Reiser: 'They would come and watch me perform, and afterwards we would talk.'
He led a drive to recruit new blood that more than tripled the number of Friar's Club members under the age of 40.
