    Congressional Representative from Michigan's 4th District (1977-81)
    Director of the Office of Management and Budget (1981-85)
    Wrote the memoir 'The Triumph of Politics: Why the Reagan Revolution Failed' (1985)

Why he might be annoying:

    In an interview with Atlantic Monthly, he admitted about the budget, 'None of us really understands what's going on with all these numbers.' (1981)
    He also revealed that supply-side economics 'was a Trojan horse to bring down the top [tax] rate.'
    After the Atlantic Monthly interview, Howard Baker wondered, 'How can somebody that smart be that dumb?'
    After presiding over a doubling of the national debt, he became a deficit hawk.
    'Time' dubbed his memoirs 'The Triumph of Arrogance.'
    He paid a $7.2 million fine (2010) to settle Security and Exchange Commission charges that he misled investors about the financial soundness of Collins & Aikman (an auto parts company he was CEO of) before the firm went bankrupt.
    He argued that Ukraine brought the Russian invasion on itself and said, 'Zelensky should resign and make way for a collaborationist government that will sue for peace.' (2022)

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was called 'the father of Reaganomics.'
    He signed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court supporting same-sex marriage.
    His own taxes would go up under his debt reduction proposals.
    He said, 'The Republican Party has totally abdicated its job in our democracy, which is to act as the guardian of fiscal discipline and responsibility. They're on an anti-tax jihad -- one that benefits the prosperous classes.' (2010)
