Singer, songwriter and musician for the rock groups Spirit (1967-71) and Jo Jo Gunne (1971-74), as well as a solo artist

Why he might be annoying:

There is a Canadian musician also named Jay Ferguson.
He was in a bluegrass band with his brother called the Oat Hill Stump Straddlers, as well as the garage bands Western Union and the Red Roosters, all of which went nowhere.
He left Spirit to form Jo Jo Gunne, and disbanded Jo Jo Gunne to go solo.
In 1982, he gave up his rock and roll career to become a soundtrack composer for TV and movies.

Why he might not be annoying:

He worked odd jobs as a piano teacher, theatre usher and architect's assistant for his dad while studying at UCLA.
He was a classically trained pianist and became a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, banjo, keyboards and percussion, as well as vocals).
He lists the Beatles as his major musical influence, and got the name Jo Jo Gunne from a Chuck Berry song.
'Run Run Run' reached #27 in the U.S. in 1972, hit the Top 10 in the U.K. and became an FM radio staple.
In 1978, 'Thunder Island' reached #9 on Billboard's singles chart in the U.S.
He has become a successful soundtrack composer - some of his songs can be heard in 'Roadie (1980),' 'The Terminator (1984),' 'A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child (1989)' and 'Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003).'
He composed the theme to the U.S. version of 'The Office,' which earned him the 2007 Film & TV Music Award for Best Score for a Comedy Television Program.
