Why they might be annoying:

    They were gambling addicts.
Their popularity began to decline in the late 1920's.
Rose was married three times while Jenny was married twice.
Their reputation for dating wealthy older men earned them the nickname ‘The Million Dollar Dollies.’
Jenny began an affair with retail magnate Harry Gordon Selfridge while they were performing in London.
Selfridge lavished them with gifts and funded their high rolling lifestyle (they squandered over $4 million of his money on gambling debts alone).
Selfridge reportedly offered Jenny $10 million to marry him (1933).
Their lives were turned into a sanitized biographical musical by 20th Century Fox starring Betty Grable and June Haver.

Why they might not be annoying:

    Florenz Ziegfeld discovered them.
They were parodied on The Carol Burnett Show.
Diamond Jim Brady gifted Rosie with a Rolls Royce covered with ribbons.
Jenny Dolly was badly injured in a car crash before she could give Selfridge an answer to his proposal.
Jenny sustained serious internal injuries and required facial reconstruction surgery (she sold off her jewelry collection to pay for the expenses).
Jenny later married in 1935 and adopted two children in the marriage.
After separating from her husband and a long bout of clinical depression, Jenny hanged herself from a curtain rod in their apartment (June 1, 1941).
Heartbroken from the loss of her sister, Rosie became a recluse and also attempted suicide.
Rosie spent her remaining years doing charitable work for children in her native Hungary.
She sold Fox the movie rights to her story on the condition that Jenny’s suicide never be alluded to at any point in the film.
