Why he might be annoying:

He was not the original Willie Loomis – he replaced James Hall after five episodes.
He lost a small fortune over the years due to a gambling addiction.
He admitted about Harvey Lacey, ‘I never thought this was an Emmy-winning character.’
He fell off the stage at a ‘Dark Shadows’ fan club meeting in Tarrytown, New York (2004).

Why he might not be annoying:

He served in the Korean War.
He said about ‘Cagney and Lacey,’ ‘It’s excellent money and I only work one or two days a week. You don’t feel overworked. There’s no burnout.’
