Why he might be annoying:

He never played a game in the professional ranks.
His coaching career was considered nomadic, if you were to add his stops in the college ranks.
His playcalling was considered too conservative by football pundits.
He oversaw one of the worst post-season collapses in NFL history under his watch.
His Chargers team blew a 27-0 halftime lead to lose 31-30 to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Wild Card Game (January 14, 2023).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the quarterback for the football teams at the University of Dayton for two seasons and at Mercyhurst University for one, prior to pursuing a coaching career.
He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 24, but went into remission.
He apprenticed as an NFL coach under Vic Fangio in both Chicago and Denver.
He guided the Rams defense to the top ranked defensive unit in the NFL in both points and total yards allowed, which parlayed him into a star candidate for head coaching jobs.
Despite the Chargers playoff collapse, he had the full support of his players who successfully lobbied for him to return another year.
