Football Player

The Resume

    (April 23, 1956- )
    Born in Berlin, West Germany
Drafted 189th overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 1979 NFL Draft
Place kicker for the Miami Dolphins (1979-84)

Why he might be annoying:

Many movie fans wrongfully assume that the Ray Finkle character on 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective' was based on him, when it was actually based on Scott Norwood.
This was due to the fact that the Finkle character wore his jersey number for the Dolphins and footage of his kicking plays were used in the movie.
His name is difficult to pronounce, unless you are familiar with the German language.
He married and divorced five times, even going as far as remarrying and redivorcing one of his ex-wives.
He didn't enjoy living in Miami, claiming the city was a 'drug ridden cesspool.'
He struggled with his field goal accuracy in the final season of his career.

Why he might not be annoying:

He took up gridiron football after he punted one of the balls, impressing his coach, who encouraged him to take up the sport.
He emigrated to the United States at the age of 16 in order to further his football career.
He set an NFL record (since broken) for most extra point attempts recorded in a single season.
He recorded a game winning kick in the dying seconds which helped the University of Oklahoma defeat Ohio State (1977).
He was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and is an advocate for all research causes that pertain to the disease.
