The Resume

    (April 22, 1948- )
    Born in Dallas, Texas
Recorded the single 'Junk Food Junkie' (1976)
Hosts the NPR program 'Mountain Stage' (1986- )

Why he might be annoying:

He was a one-hit wonder with a novelty song.
In 'Junk Food Junkie,' he declares himself 'a friend of old Euell Gibbons,' who ironically died between the time the song was recorded and when it became a hit.
His 'Best of Larry Groce' CD does not contain his one hit -- it is a compilation of his later Christian music instead.

Why he might not be annoying:

He attended high school alongside fellow singers Michael Martin Murphey and B.W. Stevenson.
He was an 'artist in residence' in West Virginia for a National Endowments of the Arts program (1972-86).
He recorded nine 'Children's Favorites' albums for Disney, five of which went platinum and one of which was a Grammy nominee.
