The Resume

    (1994- )
Shirley Manson (Vocals- August 26, 1966)
Butch Vig (Drums- August 2, 1957)
Duke Erikson (Guitars- January 15, 1957)
Steve Marker (Bass- March 16, 1959)
Recorded 'Garbage,' 'Version 2.0' and 'beautifulgarbage'

Why they might be annoying:

The band's name came from a friend's comment on their music in its experimental stages, 'This shit sounds like garbage!'
They don't exactly come up with the most creative album titles.
When the band was still in its early days, they held auditions for a lead singer. Shirley auditioned, nervous as hell, and the guys made her come up with original lyrics on the spot.
The media focuses almost completely on Shirley.
Shirley's outspokenness has caused tensions between the band and other artists such as Nickelback and Christina Aguilera.
They were sued by the band American Breed for taking lyrics and music from their song 'Bend Me, Shape Me' for the Garbage song, 'I Think I'm Paranoid.'
They overuse the word 'girl' in their song titles. ('Stupid Girl,' 'Breaking Up the Girl,' 'Girl Don't Come')

Why they might not be annoying:

They drastically change their sound with each album, keeping themselves interesting.
All four members had previously been in bands before Garbage, so they were all experienced with the business.
    After producing
Nirvana's landmark album, 'Nevermind,' Butch became one of the most sought after producers in the business, and continues to be.
They have an extremely dedicated fan following.
    They are a critical favorite.
The guys in the group don't really care that Shirley gets the most attention.
Their music deals with a wide range of subjects, from depression, hypocrisy, obsession, and transsexuals.
They recorded the theme song to the Bond flick, 'The World Is Not Enough.'
They also appeared on the soundtrack to 'Romeo + Juliet.'
Despite not being one of the most popular bands today, they still play to sell out crowds.
'Version 2.0' ranked #92 on Rolling Stone's readers' poll of the 100 Greatest Albums of All Time.
'Garbage' ranked among Rolling Stone's best alternative albums of the 90's.
Shirley has a close friendship with Gwen Stefani of No Doubt, and the two bands toured together in the fall of 2002.
They often communicate with fans via their website.
