Why they might be annoying:

They initially wanted to call themselves 'The Rejects.'
They took the same name as a British punk band, who performed a decade earlier leading casual music fans to assume they were a continuation of the old group.
Dean McTaggart purged the band's lineup after meeting David Tyson, in order to secure a mainstream commercial record deal.
Their signature song 'Meet Me In The Middle' did not garner commercial interest outside of Canada.
They disbanded after they didn't meet A&M Records goal of producing a mainstream single.

Why they might not be annoying:

They releases their first single 'Misunderstood' as an independent recording, before going mainstream.
They had a solid following in Canada.
They served as Chris De Burgh's opening act on the United Kingdom portion of his tour.
Their albums 'Stand Back' and 'The Lines Are Open' earned David Tyson a Juno Award nomination for Producer of the Year.
In the years following their disbanding, Dean McTaggart established himself as a songwriter and collaborated with David Tyson on singles for Amanda Marshall and Tina Arena amongst others.
