Why she might be annoying:

She refuses to get an Internet connection.
She married just a few months after meeting her husband.
Some find her science fiction with its sociological slant too didactic.
A mini series based on her Earthsea books and shown on the Sci-Fi Channel in 2004 flopped.
She said, ‘My father studied real cultures and I make them up, in a way, the same thing.'
Her books often stereotype women as nurturing and men as destructive.

Her father, anthropologist Alfred Kroeber, was well known for his studies of Native American tribes.

She has been married to the same man for over 50 years.
