Baseball Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He had a tendency to swing at every pitch that was thrown at him.
He set an American League record (since broken) for strikeouts recorded in a season.
He returned to the majors as a part time player for one final season, after spending three years bouncing around between Japan and the minors (1996).
He was involved in a high speed motorcycle collision three weeks before the Padres spring training, sustaining serious injuries to his arms and forehead (1996).
He lied to the team and told them he sustained the injuries in an ATV accident, as it would have been in violation of his contract.

Why he might not be annoying:

He worked in construction during the off-seasons in the early part of his career.
He hit a game tying home run on Easter Sunday, in which the Brewers would go on to win their 12th consecutive game to start the season (1987).
That particular home run landed him on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
He recorded 20+ home runs in eight consecutive seasons.
He pursued a second career in drag racing and motorsports, following the end of his baseball one.
