Why he might be annoying:

    He ran away to Paris because his parents did not approve of painting as a career (1612).
    He contracted syphilis, which in later years caused a tremor in his hands that affected his paintings.
    After a year as 'First Painter' to King Louis XIII, he became fed up with court intrigues and overwhelmed by the number of commissions he was expected to fulfill; he left court on the pretext of getting his wife and never returned (1642).
