Why he might be annoying:

He ran away to Paris because his parents did not approve of painting as a career (1612).
He contracted syphilis, which in later years caused a tremor in his hands that affected his paintings.
After a year as 'First Painter' to King Louis XIII, he became fed up with court intrigues and overwhelmed by the number of commissions he was expected to fulfill; he left court on the pretext of getting his wife and never returned (1642).

Why he might not be annoying:

Contrary to the practice of most of his contemporaries, he painted his works entirely by himself, without assistants.
Paul Cezanne said, 'Every time I leave Poussin, I know better who I am.'
Other admirers of his paintings included Jacques-Louis David, Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, Eugene Delacroix, and Georges Seurat.
