The Resume

    (April 20, 1915-December 22, 2005)
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
    Aurora Miranda da Cunha Richaid
    Sister of Carmen Miranda
Performed in ‘Hello, Hello, Carnival!’ ‘Banana da Terra,’ ‘Phantom Lady,’ ‘The Conspirators,’ and ‘Tell It to a Star’
Trademark song is ‘Os Quindins de Yava’
Best known for her role as the Brazilian Cookie Lady in the Bahia sequence of Disney’s ‘The Three Caballeros’ (1946)

Why she might be annoying:

She lived in her sister's shadow.
She wore a gold-embroidered wedding dress when she married Gabriel Richaid (1940).
Her claim to fame is dancing with Donald Duck in a Disney ‘Good Neighbor Policy’ package film (notable for Donald acting like a horny wolf throughout; swooning over her and – well – every other female player in the movie).
Walt Disney had actually sought out Carmen first, but upon learning that she was available, settled for the younger sister instead.
She was actually in direct competition with her sister at the start of her recording career, having been snapped up at eighteen by a rival music station.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was arguably both a more gifted vocalist and prettier than her famed sister.
She was the first to record Rio de Janeiro's unofficial anthem,‘Cidae Maravilhosa’ (Marvellous City), in 1934.
She made history as the first human being to interact with cartoons in a Disney film – predating James Baskett in 'Song of the South' by two years.
She chose to prioritize her married life over her nightclub career, outliving her sister and making it to the ripe age of 90.
The Guardian’s Tom Philips wrote that she ‘personified the spirit of Rio.’
