Why she might be annoying:

She was unattractive (and that's putting it nicely).
She had horrible teeth.
She did nude scenes, despite being grotesquely overweight.
She infuriated her costar Divine by constantly forgetting her lines.
Even though she was a terrible singer, she went on a concert tour.
'Newsweek' said of her: 'It's not clear whether she deserves an Oscar or a 24-hour nurse.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She was an extremely kind person.
She had a great sense of humor about herself.
She was an orphan.
She sold pencils on the street during the Great Depression.
She once ran a brothel in Illinois.
In later years she owned a thrift shop, and was considered a Baltimore institution.
John Waters liked her so much, he made a short film called 'Love Letter to Edie.'
She is a beloved cult-movie icon.
