    (September 10, 1929-September 25, 2016)
    Latrobe, Pennsylvania
Winner of the 1954 US Amateur, 60 PGA Tour wins including 1 US Open, 2 British Opens, 4 Masters, 3 Tournaments of Champions, 4 Bob Hope Classics, member of 6 Ryder Cup teams, captain of 2, winner of 10 Senior Tour events
He tarnished his legend status by continuing to play in tournaments, usually finishing near last place or missing the cut.
He was an endorser for Office Depot, Cooper Tires, Pennzoil, Sears and many other companies that have no direct relation to golf.
He endorsed Liggett & Myers cigarettes.
He never completed the follow-thru in his swing.
He stopped smoking after realizing the dangers of it and his role model status of encouraging kids to smoke.
He did PSAs for GlaxoSmithKline (makers of NicoDerm patches and Nicorette gum) telling his story and encouraging others to kick the habit.
In his heyday, he was aggressive and took big risks on the course, all the time.
In 1968, he became the first PGA Tour player to earn $1 Million in career earnings, taking 14 years to do so.
If he was in a tournament, he drew the largest crowd (also known as Arnie's Army), no matter how bad he played.
He appreciated the above fact, and always smiled and tipped his hat frequently to the crowd.
He planned to not announce his retirement, but simply stop playing when he felt he should.
He ranked #50 in 1999, #42 in 2000 and #48 in 2001 on Forbes Power List.
    He is left handed.
