The Resume

    (March 11, 1938-May 22, 2011)
Born in New York City, New York
Wrote numerous advertising jingles, including Pepsi's 'You've Got a Lot to Live' and Maxwell House's 'Good to the Last Drop Feeling'
Wrote the song 'You Light Up My Life' (1977)
Composed music for the films 'The Lords of Flatbush' (1974) and 'Invitation to the Wedding' (1983)
Directed, wrote, produced and appeared in the films 'You Light Up My Life' (1977) and 'If Ever I See You Again' (1978)

Why he might be annoying:

His daughter Amanda said, 'My father is a bully and very scary and very intimidating.'
He was a regular client of Manhattan Madam Kristin Davis, who commented 'I can't say he had any redeeming qualities at all.'
According to Davis, he was fond of hiring girls to role play casting couch scenarios, where he would pretend to seduce actresses with drugged wine.
According to prosecutors, he went beyond role playing as they charged him with 91 counts of rape, sexual misconduct and assault against 13 women who he had lured to his apartment to audition for movie roles.
Prosecutors said there were an additional dozen women they might call as witnesses who had been assaulted far enough in the past that the statute of limitations on charging Brooks with a crime had run out.
While awaiting trial, he committed suicide by tying a plastic bag around his head and filling it with helium.

Why he might not be annoying:

He won several Clio awards for his ad jingles.
'You Light Up My Life' won an Oscar for Best Original Song and a Grammy for Song of the Year.
His ex-fiancee allegedly soaked him for a million bucks before revealing she was already married. (Although she partly made up for it by loaning him $500,000 for his bail.)
