'Me And Mrs. Jones' glorifies cheating on one's spouse.
It is also believed Mrs. Jones stood for heroine addiction.
He quit performing in 1989, but later came out of retirement to tour (with no new songs to offer).

Why he might not be annoying:

'Me And Mrs. Jones' spent 3 weeks at the end of 1972 on Billboard's Singles chart at #1, went platinum and sold over 2 million units.
The song won him a Grammy.
He had a Top 10 song on the R&B charts in 1974 with 'Thanks For Saving My Life.'
He toured with Charlie Parker, Dinah Washington, Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Roberta Flack.
He quoted, 'If I'm in Vegas tomorrow, and on the corner the next day, I'm still the same person. The show that I gave in Vegas will be the same show I give in a small club. I want to reach everybody with my music.'
