Why he might be annoying:

He was a child laborer, working in a porcelain factory.
His paintings first exhibited in 1864, but went unnoticed for ten years.
He said: 'I do not know if I would have become painter if God had not created the female bosom.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He worked with fellow French impressionist Claude Monet.
He painted his friends and lovers.
His paintings hang in The NYC Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Courtauld Institute Galleries, London and Musée du Louvre.
His hands were crippled by arthritis for the last twenty years of his life.
He continued to paint by tying a paint brush to his arm.
