Radio Personality

The Resume

    (January 12, 1951-February 17, 2021)
Wrote 'The Way Things Ought to Be,' and 'See, I Told You So'
EIB (Excellence in Broadcasting) syndicated radio host
Target of Al Franken's 'Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot'
Controversially awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Donald Trump during the State of the Union address (February 4, 2020)

Why he might be annoying:

He lives by the mantra 'Democrats bad, Republicans good.'
He polarizes Americans, leading conservatives to attack liberals.
His listeners are called dittoheads because they mindlessly accept all Rush says as truth.
He claims volcanos damage the ozone more than all the manmade chemicals.
He screens his calls so he doesn't have to put people on the air who threaten his views.
He was dropped as spokesman by Florida Citrus Commission due to pressure by NOW and GLAAD
He was married by Justice Clarence Thomas.
He said that Donavon McNabb is overrated because the media wants a black NFL quarterback to succeed (September 28, 2003). Caving into protests against the racially insensitive comments, he resigned from his job with ESPN a few days later (October 2, 2003).
He is a hypocrite, claimed drug abusers should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, yet when his drug abuse was made public, he used his lawyers to block investigators.
Instead of taking responsibility and owning up to his illegal drug usage, he blamed it on his doctors and his back pain.
    He is pompous.
Despite his strong values and anti-drug stances, he copped a plea to a a single charge of prescription drug fraud. Although he is tough on illegal drug users, he will have his criminal record expunged if he stays clean for 18 months - fucking hypocrite! (April 28, 2006).
Despite his preaching of family values, he got married to his 4th wife, who was 25 years his junior (June 5, 2010).

Why he might not be annoying:

He is one of the most popular radio voices.
He makes strong arguments for morality and the conservative view point.
He is frowned upon (and even laughed at) by the intellectual liberal community.
He continued in radio despite losing his hearing (2001).
He issued a rare public apology to a Georgetown law student (who testified before Congress regarding contraception) he called a 'slut' on his radio program (March 3, 2012).
He announced he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer (February 3, 2020).
