    Sang Schubert lieder, Bach cantatas, Puccini's 'Turandot' and Stravinsky's 'Oedipus Rex'

    He dropped out of Oxford.
    Many people assume his name is pronounced 'PAIRS,' but it's actually 'PEERS.'
