The Resume

    (September 19, 1992-October 10, 2009)
Original version ran from September 19, 1992 to January 14, 1996
Revival ran from September 15, 2008 to October 10, 2009
Final season of the original version was known as 'Global Guts,' which featured kids from all over the world competing
2008 revival was known as 'My Family's Got Guts,' which featured families competing against each other
Original version was hosted by Mike O'Malley and refereed by Moira 'Mo' Quirk
Revival was hosted by Ben Lyons and refereed by Asha Kuerten
Premise: An 'extreme sports' competition where three kids compete against each other in events based on popular sports
    Aired on Nickelodeon

Why GUTS might be annoying:

Like many other kids game shows, it was basically just a kiddie version of a grown-up game show (in this case, 'American Gladiators').
Like 'Gladiators,' the kids had lame nicknames ('The Face,' 'The Jackal,' 'Lightning,' etc.).
Mike O'Malley was overly-hyper as host, shouting lame catch phrases like 'Do you have it?!' and 'Spill your guts!'
The endgame featured the kids climbing a giant rock with various items falling on them.
The grand prize was a giant rock that the contestant had to give back.
The revival didn't last long, and for some reason they had a film critic host it.

Why GUTS might not be annoying:

In a time when childhood obesity was becoming an epidemic, it encouraged athleticism and physical activity.
Unlike 'Gladiators,' the contestants didn't wear spandex.
Despite his later acting success, O'Malley is proud of this show and enjoys talking about it.
It is Nickelodeon's most successful game show outside of 'Double Dare'.
Despite the heavy physical activity, the most serious injury any contestant ever got was a sprained ankle.
Many young boys in the 90's had their first crush on Mo.
