    Head coach for the Montreal Canadiens (2000-03, 2012) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (2005-09)

    Many younger players don't embrace his autocratic style of coaching.

    He was a service worker for Bell Communications prior to landing a gig as a hockey coach.
    He worked his way up the coaching ladder starting in the Tier II ranks to the NHL.
    He guided the Canadiens to a playoff berth in his first full season as the team's head coach.
    He was promoted as the Penguins head coach after he guided their farm team to a 21-1-3 record in their first 25 games.
    He guided the Penguins to a 47 point improvement in his first full season as the team's head coach.
