He was born on a leap day.
He and his wife have six children.
He is best known for taking out Randall Cunningham with a dirty hit, which ended the latter's season after the first week (1991).
He didn't get a lot of recognition as a result of spending his entire career in small market cities.
He left his coaching position at Northern Iowa after the 2016 season, only to return a year later.
